How to test for Polarity

First make sure you have a clear Glass container

Take 3 parts Fragrance and one part white mineral oil

You can use the mineral oil from the pharmacy. Do not use Baby oil as it will not give you an accurate result.

Put your oils in your clear glass container and mix thoroughly.

If the mixture clouds after it has sat for five min. and has not cleared up then it is POLAR and UNSAFE. If there is separation line or beads it is POLAR. This Fragrance can not be used for making Gel Candles.

If it remains clear and there is no separation then do the second part of the test.

Reverse the proportions and do the testing using 1 part Fragrance and three parts mineral oil. It is important to do the testing both ways and make sure there is no clouding and separation in either.

I have an example of POLAR and NON POLAR testing below.

polar test
The right is POLAR, you can see that it has clouded and separated in the glass container.

The left is clear and no separation line or beading. It is NON POLAR and is safe to use in Gel
.

It is very important to do these tests before you use a Fragrance in Gel
